Doctors warn of increase in liver cancer, with over 1,500 new cases per year

The Portuguese Association for the Study of the Liver (APEF) launched a national awareness campaign, "A Prevenção faz o Fígado", throughout October to highlight the importance of early detection and risk reduction. The campaign emphasizes avoiding alcohol, maintaining a healthy diet and exercise, vaccinating against Hepatitis B, and undergoing recommended semi-annual abdominal ultrasounds for those in high-risk groups with pre-existing liver conditions.
