Banking union reschedules protests

The SNQTB union has cancelled the protest originally scheduled for October 9, replacing it with a new calendar of joint actions in November. These include a demonstration at bank headquarters in Lisbon on November 4, a protest at TagusPark (Millennium BCP and Novo Banco buildings) on November 25, and a general sector strike on November 30.

Why it mattersIf you use banking services, be aware that industrial action is now planned for November 4, 25, and 30, which may impact branch operations or service availability.

Operational impact of AIMA strike was reduced, says agency

AIMA reported an 11.6% strike turnout involving 96 workers out of 831, stating that operations and public service capacity were largely maintained. The union (STM) reported a 50% turnout and claimed closures or partial services at delegations in Porto (Avenida de França), Lisbon (Anjos), Odivelas, and Faro. AIMA announced that citizens whose appointments were missed due to the strike will receive a new date via email without needing to take further action.

Minister refuses to renegotiate career path for prison services technicians

The Minister of Justice stated that the recently published decree-law regarding the career path and risk supplements for reintegration and prison services technicians accurately reflects the previously signed agreement, and she rejected calls to reopen negotiations. The SinDGRSP union held a strike today to contest the decree published on September 16, citing discrepancies in risk supplement calculations and claiming the final result falls short of their expectations.
