Remote Citizen Card renewals face restrictions

While citizens 25 and older can renew their Citizen Card online or automatically, biometric data reuse is limited by law to non-consecutive renewals or lost, stolen, or destroyed cards. Citizens who previously renewed online must update their photographs and fingerprints, and voluntary photo or signature changes require visiting a service counter in person.

Why it mattersIf you are due to renew your Portuguese Citizen Card and previously did so online, you will need to update your biometric data in person rather than using the remote service again.

Diesel support for transport limited to 39.5 million euros

The government has capped fuel subsidies for various transport and heavy machinery sectors at 39.5 million euros. The support levels range from 118.20 to 457.80 euros per vehicle for freight transport, 420 euros for public passenger buses, 360/120 euros for taxis and fire department vehicles, and 600 euros for social sector institutions, with potential proportional reductions if demand exceeds the budget. Additionally, fuel stations are now legally required to display the specific tax savings (ISP and VAT reductions) on their pumps.
