Housing protests today in Lisbon and Porto and initiatives in several cities

Protests for the right to housing are taking place today, 31 October, with major demonstrations in Lisbon (starting at 16:00 from Largo Luís de Camões) and Porto (starting at 16:00 at Batalha). Additional local assemblies and initiatives are scheduled throughout the day in Viana do Castelo, Braga, Faro, Beja, and in Funchal on Sunday, 1 November, to advocate for rent controls, an end to evictions without alternatives, and the cessation of new housing rental laws currently under discussion in Parliament.

The marathon to define new rules for the 'Lisbon Encampment'

The 'Acampada de Lisboa' housing protest movement held its 14th assembly on Friday 30 October to vote on internal organizational changes. Participants voted to maintain the assembly's deliberative power, but decided that on days with major demonstrations and concentrations—such as Saturday 31 October—the assembly will move to a non-deliberative format focused on testimony and sharing, with safety and organizational decisions handled by a 'delegate plenary'.
