Carlos Moedas promises to 'bet more' on Gira bicycles after shared e-scooter suspension

Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas justified the decision to suspend shared e-scooters in the city due to accidents, illegal riding on pavements and in the wrong direction, and widespread abandoned equipment. The formal proposal to suspend the service will be discussed at a city council meeting on Wednesday 21 October 2026, where the mayor expects support, and the municipality plans to redirect its focus towards expanding the public Gira bicycle network.
