North African dust clouds affect air quality in Portugal

A mass of hot air from North Africa, carrying suspended dust particles, will affect Portugal on Friday 16 October and Saturday 17 October. The health authority (DGS) warns of poor air quality across the country and advises vulnerable groups—specifically children, the elderly, and those with respiratory or cardiovascular issues—to stay indoors with windows closed and avoid outdoor physical exertion.
