Weekend marked by protests against the rising cost of living in several cities across the country
Demonstrations called by the CGTP union confederation and housing movements are scheduled for Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Funchal, and Faro on 16 and 17 October 2026. Protesters are demanding higher wages, better pensions, and measures against surging housing, fuel, and grocery prices.
