Traffic on IP8/EN260 interrupted after truck fire

Road traffic is currently interrupted on the IP8/EN260 at kilometre 16 near Baleizão, Beja, following a fire in a tanker truck transporting pomace. The fire was reported at 04:10 on 19 October, and emergency teams are on-site; there are no casualties.

Why it matters

If you are driving in the Beja area or planning to use the IP8/EN260 between Beja and Vila Verde de Ficalho, expect road closures and seek alternative routes while the site is cleared.

easyJet cabin crew based in Lisbon, Porto and Faro have called a five-day strike from 19 to 23 December 2026. The stoppage was announced by the SNPVAC union over schedule stability, pay progression and company agreement compliance, and minimum services have been ordered.

A new pedestrian walkway connecting the Alameda to the maritime promenade in Algés (Oeiras) is now open following its inauguration this Wednesday, 28 October. The infrastructure, known as the Vasco da Gama Aquarium passage, was a long-awaited local project.
