Prison guards announce general strike from November 17 to January 3

The National Union of the Prison Guard Corps (SNCGP) has announced a general strike running from 17 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. During this period, most inmates will be restricted to their cells for 22 hours a day, with significant limitations on visits, canteen access, and the delivery of food and clothing packages, except for strictly defined minimum services and urgent security procedures.

Government leaves strike negotiations to CP management

The government confirmed it will not intervene in the strike called by the SFRCI union for Friday 30 October, stating negotiations are the responsibility of the CP administration.
