Traffic circulation on the VL8 in Arrábida, Gaia, reopens on Saturday

Road traffic in the south/north direction of the VL8 at the Arrábida junction in Vila Nova de Gaia will resume on Saturday, 31 October, following construction work for the Metro do Porto's Rubi Line. The reopening includes a new roundabout connecting to the Arrábida Shopping centre and restores direct access from the VL8 to the VCI (IC23) toward Porto, with the opposite direction (north/south) expected to reopen in November.

Why it matters

If you drive through the Arrábida area in Vila Nova de Gaia, you will have restored access to the VCI from the VL8 starting on Saturday, 31 October.

Azores Airlines boosts Porto routes for 2027

Azores Airlines is increasing flight frequency and seat capacity on routes between Porto and the Azores, starting with the winter 2026/2027 season and continuing through summer 2027. Weekly flights between Ponta Delgada and Porto will rise from 13 to 15, while the Terceira to Porto route increases from three to four weekly flights.
