Tax residency in Portugal is determined by spending 183 days or more in the country during any 12-month period, or by maintaining a home that functions as your habitual residence. If you have connections to the UK, you must also navigate the UK's Statutory Residence Test (SRT) and the UK-Portugal double taxation treaty to avoid double taxation or compliance issues.
