SNS has treated 19 million people, but over 20% of records lack identification data
ACSS data shows that of the 19.3 million people treated in the SNS since the 1990s, over 4 million (22.8%) have incomplete identification records, with 11.5 million total entries involving foreign citizens. Non-resident foreign debt to health units is estimated at up to 15 million euros due to untraceable contact details. Parliament is debating proposals today from multiple parties to address non-resident access, including potential health insurance requirements that would necessitate changing the Basic Health Law.
