Rents in Lisbon rose 103% in ten years and European Commissioner calls for restraint on Local Accommodation

The European Commission has proposed a new EU-wide regulatory framework that would allow member states and local authorities to restrict short-term rentals (Local Accommodation/AL) in zones with housing pressure. The restrictions would need to be justified by objective data and, if approved, could be applied for five years. This comes as the European Commissioner for Housing highlighted that Lisbon saw rent prices increase by 103% over the last decade.
