Portugal to reform labour laws

Labour Minister Maria do Rosário Palma Ramalho announced plans for a major labour law overhaul during a parliamentary hearing on 26 October 2026. The reform will transpose two EU directives: the Pay Transparency Directive, which requires employers to disclose salary ranges before contracts are signed and ban questions about past pay, and the Platform Work Directive, which establishes rules on digital platform employment status and automated management, with an EU transposition deadline of 2 December 2026. However, the minister acknowledged that the current Government may not complete the full reform.
