Portugal supports Douro winegrowers
Winegrowers in the Douro Demarcated Region can apply for exceptional income support for unharvested grapes from 28 September until 12 October. The 12-million-euro scheme provides non-repayable grants to producers who leave grapes on the vine, provided the plots are identified in an online application to the Douro and Port Wine Institute (IVDP) and remain unharvested until inspection.
Why it mattersIf you are a winegrower in the Douro Demarcated Region struggling with low grape prices or a lack of buyers, you may be eligible for this financial support, but you must apply online by 12 October and ensure the grapes remain unharvested until the IVDP performs an inspection.
