Porto City Council confirms 'direct coordination' between police and municipal services during housing protests

Porto City Council confirmed that it coordinated with the PSP and the municipal cleaning company (Porto Ambiente) during the housing protests on 12 and 15 October. The Council confirmed that confiscated items belonging to protesters are being held by the Municipal Police and can only be recovered after the conclusion of administrative proceedings and, where applicable, the payment of fines.

If you participated in the housing protests in Porto and had belongings seized, you must wait for the administrative proceedings to conclude before you can attempt to reclaim your property from the Municipal Police, subject to potential fines.

Lisbon's 'Acampada' says it will not move despite the Christmas market at Rossio

The protest movement occupying Praça do Rossio has stated it will not vacate the site for the Christmas market scheduled to run from 13 November to 21 December. Representatives affirmed that the protest will continue on its own terms, while continuing to call for a general strike for housing, including a proposed Iberian strike on 11 November. A further demonstration is planned for Saturday, 31 October, at 16:00, beginning at Largo de Camões and ending at Rossio.
