Porto City Council confirmed that it coordinated with the PSP and the municipal cleaning company (Porto Ambiente) during the housing protests on 12 and 15 October. The Council confirmed that confiscated items belonging to protesters are being held by the Municipal Police and can only be recovered after the conclusion of administrative proceedings and, where applicable, the payment of fines.
The protest movement occupying Praça do Rossio has stated it will not vacate the site for the Christmas market scheduled to run from 13 November to 21 December. Representatives affirmed that the protest will continue on its own terms, while continuing to call for a general strike for housing, including a proposed Iberian strike on 11 November. A further demonstration is planned for Saturday, 31 October, at 16:00, beginning at Largo de Camões and ending at Rossio.
The Olhão City Council has approved a 49-million-euro loan, with 40 million specifically earmarked for housing projects aimed at retaining the local youth population. The proposal is currently pending final approval from the Municipal Assembly.
