National Library of Spain celebrates the influence of Camões

GNR opens museum to the public to mark 271 years since the Lisbon Earthquake

"Remember 1755": Monuments across the country light up tonight to warn of seismic risk

To mark the 271st anniversary of the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, over 40 monuments and buildings across 15 districts and the autonomous regions will be illuminated in purple on the night of 31 October. On Saturday, 1 November, at 09:40, fire departments and vessels on the Tagus River will sound their sirens to raise awareness of earthquake prevention and emergency procedures.
