The OECD identifies Portugal as one of the countries where housing access is most difficult. International entities are urging the government to focus on increasing housing supply and suggest implementing measures to bring vacant properties into the market.
The first of four Portuguese Army UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters arrived at Tancos Military Airfield on Sunday, 25 October. The aircraft is undergoing certification before it can be used for tactical transport, medical evacuation, and civil protection support, with the remaining three helicopters expected to arrive between 2027 and 2028.
Between January and September 2026, there were 479 collective dismissal notices, an increase of nearly 16% compared to the same period in 2025. While the number of notices is the highest since 2020, the total number of workers actually dismissed in these processes fell by 2.18% year-on-year to 5,294.
