Low wages discourage police applicants

The number of candidates for PSP police agent roles fell by 13% in 2026 compared to 2025, a decrease of 447 applications. Unions cite low salaries, the risks of the profession, and the lack of support against assaults on officers as primary reasons for the decline, despite the recent increase in the maximum admission age from 30 to 35.
