Lisbon Council expects shared electric scooters off the streets by January with no perspective of return

The Lisbon City Council is initiating the unilateral revocation of agreements with shared electric scooter operators, requiring all 5,000 vehicles to be removed from public spaces. While officially termed a 'suspension', the municipal leadership states there is no plan for their return. A formal proposal will be presented to the council on Wednesday 21 October, initiating a 60-day removal period following notification, with completion expected by the end of January 2026.
