Iúri Rodrigues: the face of the PSP at the Lisbon 'encampment'

Police commander Iúri Rodrigues maintains that the use of force during housing protests at Rossio on 20 October and 25 October was a necessary and proportional response to a lack of collaboration from protesters. While the 20 October operation resulted in 55 arrests and the 25 October intervention left 27 people injured, internal colleagues describe Rodrigues as a professional focused on protecting both officers and demonstrators. The Inspeção-Geral da Administração Interna (IGAI) is currently investigating these police charges.
