How long will electricity bills resist skyrocketing gas prices?

Wholesale gas prices in Europe have reached 100 euros per MWh, their highest level since 2023, putting upward pressure on electricity production costs. While current residential bills remain stable due to existing fixed-price contracts and lower grid access tariffs, experts warn that new contracts and renewals will soon reflect these rising energy costs. Additionally, the energy regulator (ERSE) may need to upwardly revise its 2027 regulated tariff proposal because it currently underestimates future energy market prices.
