Heat keeps 19 municipalities at maximum wildfire risk

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has placed 19 municipalities across the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Santarém, Portalegre, and Faro at maximum rural fire risk for this Monday, September 7, 2026. Additionally, a yellow warning for heat is in effect for Évora, Faro, Setúbal, Lisbon, Beja, Castelo Branco, and Portalegre until 21:00 today.

Why it mattersIf you are in one of the 19 municipalities at maximum risk, avoid activities that could spark a fire, as conditions are critical today.
