GNR warns of 'significant worsening of wildfire danger' in the coming days
The GNR has issued a warning regarding a significant increase in wildfire risk across mainland Portugal in the coming days, with levels expected to reach very high or maximum due to temperatures exceeding 35ºC. The authority reminds the public that the use of fire, smoking, or agricultural machinery in forest and agricultural spaces is prohibited under these conditions.
Why it mattersIf you live in or travel through rural or forested areas, you must avoid any activities that could spark a fire, such as burning waste or using machinery, as the risk of wildfires is elevated and legal prohibitions against fire use are strictly enforced.
