European Parliament approves free flights for companions of people with disabilities

The European Parliament approved updated passenger rights, which include a free flight for companions of passengers with disabilities when an airline requires an attendant for safety reasons and cannot provide the necessary assistance. The rules also introduce a standardized form for requesting reimbursements for cancellations or delays and guarantee full refunds for flights booked through intermediaries within 14 days. The agreement now awaits final approval from the Council of the European Union before it can enter into force.
