Citizens ask Ombudsman for surprise police station visits during Lisbon protest
A group of six citizens requested that the Ombudsman, in its capacity as the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture (MNP), monitor police conduct during housing rights protests. They specifically requested unannounced inspections of police stations where detainees might be taken during the demonstration held today, 31 October, at Praça D. Pedro IV in Lisbon, as well as an investigation into police operations on 15 and 25 October.
