Banks have already requested 92.8% of the public guarantee available for youth mortgage credit

Banks have exhausted almost all of the 2.3 billion euros in state guarantees allocated for youth mortgage credit. Two banks, Novo Banco and Montepio, have requested an additional 100 million euros to continue offering these government-backed loans.

Why it mattersIf you are a young person (under 35) planning to buy your first home using this government-backed credit scheme, the available funds are nearly depleted, which could impact the availability of these loans at your bank.
