"We managed to control it near the houses, that's what's most important": fighting flames in the Coimbra district, Sabouga on the firing line
Two major wildfires are currently active in the Coimbra district. One fire in the municipality of Vila Nova de Poiares (Sabouga) is being fought by 261 personnel, while another in Arganil (Pombeiro da Beira) involves 189 personnel. A total of 450 emergency responders and nine aerial units are engaged.
Why it mattersIf you are in or near Vila Nova de Poiares or Arganil, monitor official ANEPC channels immediately, as these fires are active and threatening local areas.
