Two detained for fraud in Silves; suspects posed as CTT employees
Two men, aged 19 and 26, were arrested on Thursday, October 1, for posing as CTT (postal service) employees to obtain packages without payment. The 26-year-old suspect was a former CTT worker and used that knowledge, along with a counterfeit uniform, to intercept goods worth approximately 3,500 euros before being caught in Silves.
Why it mattersThis case highlights an ongoing risk of impersonation scams; if you are expecting deliveries, be aware that fraudsters may attempt to intercept items by posing as postal service staff.
