Thousands expected at protests across Portugal over cost of living

Demonstrations organised by the CGTP union confederation are taking place today, 17 October, in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra to protest against high costs for housing, fuel, and groceries. In Lisbon, the main event begins at 14:30 with a march from Cais do Sodré to Rossio; in Porto and Coimbra, gatherings start at 10:30.
