President argues total privatization of TAP needs consensus and rational debate

The government has selected Lufthansa to acquire up to 49.9% of TAP for 1.2 billion euros and has signalled the possibility of a total privatization by 2028 through a share-swap arrangement. The President stated that any move toward total privatization requires broad societal consensus and rational debate, while the opposition PS emphasized that the government must negotiate such steps in parliament.
