Portuguese Banking Association warns of fraudulent calls made in its name
The Portuguese Banking Association (APB) warns of a rise in fraudulent phone calls where callers impersonate APB staff to claim there is a suspicious transaction on the target's bank account. These callers attempt to steal personal data, banking credentials, and authentication codes, sometimes using spoofing to mimic the association's official phone number.
Why it mattersIf you receive a call claiming to be from the APB about a suspicious bank movement, hang up immediately; the association does not manage private accounts or contact customers regarding account activity, and will never ask for your passwords or codes.
