Association of jurists condemns 'police repression' during housing protests

The Portuguese Association of Democratic Jurists (APJD) has condemned the police dispersal of housing rights protest camps in Lisbon and Porto that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 1 November. The association accused the government of political responsibility for the intervention, which resulted in injuries and the removal of approximately 100 tents, calling it a violation of constitutional principles. The incident has since prompted a request for clarification from the President of the Republic and the announcement of a criminal complaint against the Minister of Internal Administration and the PSP director.
