Over 60 teachers barred from teaching had convictions for child sexual abuse, pornography and domestic violence
The Ministry of Education revealed that 62 teachers provisionally suspended due to invalid criminal records had convictions for crimes incompatible with working with minors, including domestic abuse and sexual offences. The cases were caught by a new automated criminal record verification mechanism replacing manual school checks. The Inspectorate-General of Education and Science (IGEC) is now urgently reviewing each case to determine consequences, including potential dismissal.
