Over 50 riot police officers concentrated between Rossio and Praça da Figueira

Police intervened this morning, 20 October, to clear a housing protest camp in Lisbon's Rossio square, arresting several participants. Protesters have relocated to Praça da Figueira, where the area remains cordoned off and vehicle access to Rossio is closed.

easyJet strike announced in Portugal for December

easyJet cabin crew based in Lisbon, Porto and Faro have called a five-day strike from 19 to 23 December 2026. The stoppage was announced by the SNPVAC union over schedule stability, pay progression and company agreement compliance, and minimum services have been ordered.

CP strike scheduled for this Friday has been called off

The strike planned by the SFRCI union for this Friday, 30 October, was cancelled following negotiations with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing. The union stated that the Ministry and CP's administration expressed willingness to address demands regarding salary valorization, professional career regulations, and worker safety, though they reserve the right to resume industrial action if concrete measures are not taken.
