More than half of hospitalized children at nutritional risk do not receive treatment
In 2023, only 1,919 of the 3,780 pediatric patients identified as being at nutritional risk in Portuguese hospitals received nutritional intervention. Experts attribute the gap to a shortage of hospital nutritionists and low nutritional literacy among both the general public and healthcare professionals.
