Mobile phone ban expands this school year

The ban on mobile phone use in schools, previously in effect from 1st to 6th grade, is now extended to include 9th grade students. While some schools have already independently extended the restriction through to the end of secondary school, it is now formalised into law for the 3rd cycle (7th to 9th grade), effective for the school year beginning between September 11, 2026, and September 14, 2026. Students may only use devices in the classroom when explicitly requested by a teacher for research purposes.
