Message promises refund and has correct Booking reservation details, but is it authentic?

Scammers are using genuine booking details—such as reservation numbers and payment amounts—to contact former Booking.com customers via WhatsApp, promising refunds. These messages contain links to fraudulent external websites designed to capture personal and financial information. This follows a known data exposure at the platform and is currently the subject of a European Commission investigation into phishing and fraud prevention measures.
