Managers earn only 91 euros a month more than employees, Social Security data shows

Company managers and board members in Portugal declared an average monthly salary of 1,879.51 euros to Social Security in 2025, just 91.26 euros above the 1,788.25 euros gross earned by employees. This 5% gap has narrowed over recent years, according to Social Security statistics accompanying the 2027 State Budget proposal. At the end of last year, there were 329,140 statutory governing body members, representing 6.7% of the 4.89 million total contributors to Social Security.
