GNR begins 'Senior Census 2026' operation. PSP flagged nearly 300 seniors at risk in urban centers

The GNR has launched the 'Senior Census 2026' operation, which runs from today, 2026-10-01, to survey the living conditions of the elderly and provide safety awareness. Additionally, the PSP reported that over 54,000 crimes against seniors have been recorded in the past three years, with nearly 300 seniors recently identified as being at risk in urban areas.

€46 million plan revives Albufeira’s long-awaited flood tunnel

The Environment and Energy Minister announced that the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) will lead the construction of a 1.5-kilometre drainage tunnel in Albufeira, budgeted at €33 million. This project, which remains subject to an environmental impact assessment, is part of a broader €46 million investment package for the area that also includes €16 million for coastal protection works.
