Setúbal Peninsula faces risk of water supply and demand imbalance

A new study by Águas de Portugal warns of a potential future water supply deficit in the Setúbal Peninsula due to rapid urban, industrial, and tourism growth. To mitigate this, the study recommends prioritizing water reuse and efficiency, noting that the area relies almost exclusively on underground aquifers which are showing signs of stress and saltwater intrusion.
