Explainer: What could change in parental leave and what are the current rules?

Negotiations between PS and PSD propose extending 100% paid parental leave to 150 days for all families, with an increase to 180 days (six months) if at least 30 days are shared between both parents. A seven-month option at 90% pay is also proposed, but the bill has not yet been passed or enacted. Currently, parental leave is 120 or 150 days, with 30 additional days available upon shared leave.
