Details on the practical application of the Nationality Law to be known soon

The Council of Ministers defined the requirements for Portuguese nationality applications on 29 October, but the official regulations have not yet been published in the Diário da República. The forthcoming ordinance will detail the required proofs of language, history, and culture proficiency, subsistence criteria (including stable income), adherence to democratic principles, and the biometric data collection procedure.

Why it matters

If you are waiting to apply for Portuguese nationality based on residency, your application process remains effectively stalled until the official regulation is published in the Diário da República, as the specific income and knowledge requirements have not yet been released.

AIMA hired 110 workers in a year but lost 91; union warns of staff shortages
