The GNR Museum in Lisbon will hold an open day on Sunday, 1 November, from 10:00 to 18:00 to commemorate the 1755 earthquake. The program includes search and rescue equipment displays, canine unit demonstrations, and an exhibition on emergency preparedness.
To mark the 271st anniversary of the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, over 40 monuments and buildings across 15 districts and the autonomous regions will be illuminated in purple on the night of 31 October. On Saturday, 1 November, at 09:40, fire departments and vessels on the Tagus River will sound their sirens to raise awareness of earthquake prevention and emergency procedures.
Artist Bordalo II placed an installation in Rossio Square on Friday, 30 October, featuring police equipment, a tent, and stones to critique the state's handling of housing protests. The installation was removed by the police shortly after it appeared.
