Blood & Honour to organize neo-Nazi festival in Maia again

The third edition of the 'Masters Of The Sea' neo-Nazi music festival is scheduled to take place in Vila Nova da Telha, Maia, on 30 and 31 October. The event is organized by the Portuguese chapter of Blood & Honour, a network currently under investigation by the Polícia Judiciária's anti-terrorism unit for hate crimes.

Why it matters

As a resident, especially if you belong to an immigrant or minority community, it is worth knowing that this gathering is taking place in Maia this weekend; while the location is kept secret among participants, it is under surveillance by national anti-terrorism authorities.

It is in schools in the poorest areas that teacher shortages are most acute

A Lusa analysis of equity indicators for the 2023/2024 school year shows a strong correlation between teacher shortages and poor academic performance among disadvantaged students. Schools with the lowest equity levels are concentrated in the Lisbon and Setúbal districts, which are also the areas most affected by teacher vacancies. In contrast, schools in the North and Centre regions generally show positive equity outcomes and fewer teacher shortages.
