In 2025, 651 children and youth were placed in care due to domestic violence, a 35.9% increase over the previous year. While the total number of children in institutional care decreased by 3.6% to 6,120 by the end of November 2025, domestic violence has emerged as a growing driver for institutionalization, often alongside physical abuse.
