Bathing advised against at Vila Praia de Âncora beach following water analysis
The Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) has issued an advisory against swimming at Vila Praia de Âncora beach in Caminha due to microbiological contamination. The precautionary measure follows heavy rainfall and the opening of rainwater retention gates, which led to high levels of intestinal enterococci and E. coli in the water.
Why it mattersIf you are planning to go to the beach in Vila Praia de Âncora, do not enter the water until further notice, as authorities have advised against bathing due to a risk of contamination.
