Azores archipelago feels the impact of Ryanair's departure

Six months after Ryanair stopped operations in the Azores, regional data shows a decline of over 103,000 passengers and 71,000 overnight stays between April and July 2026. Travel between the archipelago and mainland Portugal is currently limited to TAP and Azores Airlines, with no new carriers expected to bridge the gap until at least summer 2027.
