Volta: PSP warns of traffic restrictions in the centers of Porto, Gaia, and Maia on Sunday
Traffic restrictions are in effect in Maia starting Saturday at 21:00 for logistical setup, with further rolling closures across the Porto metropolitan area on Sunday, August 16, for the final stage of the Volta a Portugal cycling race. Closures in Maia will occur from 13:55 to 14:20; in Porto, they are expected between 13:00 and 18:00 (with Bonfim starting at 14:45); and in Gaia, they will occur between 14:45 and 18:00. The race also passes through Trofa, Valongo, Santo Tirso, Paredes, and Gondomar.
Why it mattersIf you live in or plan to drive through the centers of Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, or Maia on Sunday, expect significant traffic delays and road closures throughout the afternoon; check your route in advance to avoid these areas.
